Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated August 23, 2026
This policy describes how UrgentHelpLA (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information on www.urgenthelpla.com and related contractor tools. It is written for California residents under the CCPA / CPRA. It is not legal advice.
1. Information we collect
From homeowners who request help:
- Name, phone number, ZIP code
- Trade requested (water, HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and a description
- Consent that we and one contractor may call or text about that request
- Time of the request and status of the introduction
From contractors:
- Company name, contact name, phone, email, city, trades, ZIP coverage
- Account login (via our sign-in provider)
- Billing authorization and payment records we or our processor keep
Automatically: device type, browser, pages viewed, approximate location from IP, and cookies needed to run the site and keep you signed in.
2. How we use it
- To match one local contractor to your ZIP and trade
- To let that contractor call or text you about the request
- To send a service follow-up (including SMS) about the same request
- To bill contractors for valid exclusive leads and process credits
- To prevent fraud, keep records, and comply with law
- To improve coverage and the product
3. How we share it
We share a homeowner request with one contractor who holds that ZIP and trade so they can contact you. We do not sell your phone number to a list of companies and we do not auction the same request to multiple shops.
We may also share information with:
- Service providers (hosting, database, authentication, payments, SMS)
- Professional advisors and authorities when required by law
- A buyer of the business, under the same limits in this policy
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that ever changes, we will provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” notice and opt-out.
4. Calls and texts
If you consent on the request form, we and the matched contractor may call and text you about that service request. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to opt out of our SMS. HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not delete your request history. Contractors are independent and should use your number only for that job and ordinary follow-up on work you authorized.
5. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents may request to:
- Know what personal information we collected and how we used or shared it
- Access a copy of that information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions (for example, completed lead records we must keep)
- Opt out of sale or sharing, if we ever sell or share as those terms are defined in the CPRA
- Limit use of sensitive personal information, if we collect it (we do not collect SSNs or precise geolocation beyond ZIP)
We will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a different quality because you exercised these rights, except as the law allows. You may use an authorized agent; we may need to verify identity.
Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, phone, email, account ID), customer records (ZIP, job description), commercial information (leads and payments), and internet activity (site logs). Sources: you, your device, and our service providers. Business purposes: the uses in section 2.
6. Retention
We keep request and billing records as long as needed to route jobs, handle credits, resolve disputes, and meet tax and legal duties, then delete or de-identify them. You may ask us to delete sooner; we will unless an exception applies.
7. Security and children
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. This service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar tools to keep sessions, remember preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser; some features (including sign-in) may not work.
9. Your choices
Do not submit a request if you do not want a contractor to call. For access, correction, or deletion, use the contact below and put “Privacy request” in the subject. For texts, reply STOP. See also our Terms of use.
